Terms of Service
Last updated · 28 May 2026
Welcome to RMJRent. These Terms govern your use of the website at rmjrent.com and the Rent Management Journal service (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service. We’ve written them in plain English; if anything is unclear, email [email protected] and we’ll explain.
1. Who we are
RMJRent is operated as a sole trader business based in the United Kingdom. References to “we”, “us”, and “our” mean RMJRent. References to “you” and “your” mean the person or entity using the Service.
2. Your account
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access.
3. Subscriptions, billing & refunds
The Service offers a Free tier and paid tiers (Landlord Pro and Renter Pro). Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe, our payment processor. You authorise us to charge your payment method for the recurring subscription fee plus any applicable taxes until you cancel.
You can cancel at any time from your account’s billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep paid access until then, and we don’t pro-rate refunds for unused time within a paid period. We don’t offer refunds for partial months, but we’ll always look at exceptional cases on request.
Pricing displayed on the pricing page is in your selected currency. Stripe charges in your local currency at checkout based on the multi-currency Price configured for your country.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for anything unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful;
- Upload content you don’t have the right to upload, or that infringes anyone’s rights;
- Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or probe the security of the Service;
- Use the Service to harass tenants or landlords or to misrepresent your identity;
- Resell, sublicense, or wrap the Service in your own product without our written permission.
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these rules.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of the data you put into RMJRent (properties, tenancies, payments, documents, notes). You grant us a limited licence to host, process, and display that content solely to operate the Service for you. We do not sell your data and we don’t use it to train AI models.
6. Compliance module — not legal advice
The UK Renters’ Rights Act compliance module produces Information Sheets, Written Statements, and audit trails to help English landlords meet their obligations under the Renters’ Rights Act 2025. It is a tool, not legal advice. Using the module does not by itself guarantee compliance, and we are not your solicitors. For legal advice specific to your circumstances, please consult a qualified UK solicitor.
7. Availability
We work hard to keep the Service up but we don’t guarantee 100% uptime. We may make changes to the Service, suspend it for maintenance, or discontinue features — we’ll give reasonable notice for material changes that affect you.
8. Disclaimer & liability
The Service is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim or (b) £100. We do not exclude liability for death, personal injury caused by our negligence, or fraud — or anything else that cannot be excluded by law.
9. Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close your account if you breach these Terms or if we’re required to by law. On closure, we’ll delete your data within 30 days unless we’re required by law to keep it for longer (e.g. tax records).
10. Changes
We may update these Terms. If we make material changes we’ll let you know by email or in-app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after the change means you accept the new Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, unless your local consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings in another jurisdiction.
12. Contact
Questions, complaints, or notices under these Terms should be sent to [email protected]. We aim to respond within two working days.
